Voter Information
The Elections Division is committed to providing clear, accurate information so every eligible voter can participate in elections with confidence. This page outlines key resources, processes, and services available to voters.
You must be registered to vote to participate in an election and can register to vote or check your registration status or update your registration if you have changed your name, address, or mailing information, through the Washington Secretary of State. Voters should be aware of registration deadlines before each election.
Ballot Casting & Tracking
Washington State conducts elections primarily by mail where ballots are mailed to active registered voters before each election. Voters should carefully review and follow the instructions included with the ballot. Ballots may be returned by mail or placed in an official ballot drop box by 8:00 PM on Election Day.
The county provides convenient options for returning your ballot and receiving in-person assistance. Ballot Drop Boxes do not require postage and are at secure and monitored locations available throughout the county. Voting centers provide accessible voting equipment, replace ballots, provide services during eligible periods and assistance by trained staff.
Ballot Validation & Tracking
Voters can track their ballot to see when it is mailed, received, and accepted for counting through the Washington Secretary of State. Ballot tracking helps ensure your vote is counted and allows you to address any issues promptly.
A signature is required on the envelope for your ballot to be counted. Election staff verify the signature on your ballot envelope by comparing it to your voter registration record. If your signature does not match or is missing, you will be notified.
